The essentials first

1. Controller

The controller within the meaning of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is:

Geier-IT – Anton Geier
Untere Bergstraße 2
55487 Sohren, Germany
E-mail: info@geier-it.eu

There is no obligation to appoint a data protection officer pursuant to Art. 37 GDPR.

2. What this policy applies to

Both Windows programs come from the same source code and behave identically with regard to data protection. Where they differ, this is stated explicitly.

3. Overview: which connections exist at all

ConnectionWhere toWhen
Licence check and update check Geier-IT licence server, keygen.gdyn.de on activation and at every program start
Cloud folder (WebDAV) the server that you enter in the settings only if you set up a cloud server
Local folders and network shares your computer or your company network – no internet when searching for and opening files

There are no other connections. No analytics, advertising or crash-reporting services are integrated.

4. Processing on your computer

The following data remains entirely local and is never transferred to Geier-IT:

Settings, the activation record and the cache for cloud files are stored in the Windows user profile under %LOCALAPPDATA%\LV-Viewer or %LOCALAPPDATA%\LV-PRO respectively. The activation record and a stored cloud password are encrypted there and bound to your user account using the Windows Data Protection API (DPAPI).

The calculations can optionally run on the graphics card. This too happens exclusively on your computer; no data is passed to the outside in the process.

5. Personal data in your bills of quantities

6. Cloud server (WebDAV)

In the settings you can enter your own cloud server (Nextcloud, ownCloud or another WebDAV server) in order to read bills of quantities from there. The following applies:

7. Geier-IT licence server

The programs connect to https://keygen.gdyn.de (server location: Germany) in exactly three cases:

ProcessData transferredPurpose
One-time activation Licence key, company name entered by you, name of the user entered by you, device identifier (SHA-256 hash of the Windows installation identifier – not the identifier itself), program version, product (LV Viewer or LV PRO) Activation of the licence and binding to your computer
Validity check each time the program starts Licence key, device identifier, company name, name of the user, program version, product Check whether the licence is still valid (not expired, blocked or reset). If the server cannot be reached, the program continues to work offline with the record already present.
Update check each time the program starts installed program version, product Notice of a newer version. It is only downloaded and installed after you have answered the prompt with „Yes“.

What is stored on the licence server

The following is recorded for each licence key: key, product, type of licence (trial or annual licence), status, date of issue, company name, name of the user, activation date, device identifier, last reported program version as well as the time of the last sign-in.

The company name comes from your entry during activation. In the case of a sole proprietorship it may at the same time be the name of a person.

Name of the user

Since September 2026 the programs additionally ask for the name of the person working with this licence key during activation. It is stored with the licence key and sent along with every validity check so that a change is received.

For public authorities and companies that do not wish to transmit the name at all, we provide a licence without name reporting on request.

IP address and logs

With every connection the server receives your IP address for technical reasons. It is not included in the licence record. In the server's operating log, an activation is recorded with the product, licence key, company name and IP address; the upstream web server also logs accesses for technical reasons. These logs serve troubleshooting and the prevention of abusive multiple use and are not evaluated for any other purpose. They are deleted automatically after 14 days at the latest.

8. This website

When this page is accessed and when the programs are downloaded, the usual technical access data is processed by our web host: IP address, date and time, the address accessed, the volume of data transferred, browser type and operating system. This data is necessary for the operation and security of the site (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR) and is deleted after a short time.

This website is operated on Geier-IT's own server infrastructure in Germany. No external web host is involved; a processing agreement pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR is therefore not required.

9. Android app LV Compass

The Android version is called LV Compass. It is covered by its own privacy policy, which describes in detail which data stays on the device and what is transferred to the cloud server you entered as well as to the Geier-IT licence server. In the app, too, bills of quantities are processed exclusively on the device; analytics or crash-reporting services are not included.

10. Legal bases

11. Storage period

12. Disclosure to third parties

Your data is not passed on to third parties. No processors are used for licence management, and there is no transfer to countries outside the European Union.

13. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the following rights:

To do so, please use the contact details given under item 1. For information about licence data, stating your licence key is sufficient.

14. Obligation to provide data

Providing the licence key and company name during activation is necessary in order to use the programs; without them the licence cannot be unlocked. All other functions – opening, searching and calculating files – work without any transfer of data to Geier-IT.

15. Changes to this policy

This privacy policy will be adapted if the programs or the legal situation change. You will always find the current version on this page.
