1. Scope
This statement applies to the Windows programs LV Viewer and LV PRO by Geier-IT. The benchmarks are the German Accessible Information Technology Ordinance (BITV 2.0) and the European standard EN 301 549, which for software refers to WCAG 2.1 at level AA.
Geier-IT is a private company and not a public body. This statement is a voluntary disclosure so that public-sector clients can assess what the programs achieve and where limitations still exist.
2. State of conformity
The programs are partially compliant with BITV 2.0 and EN 301 549. The points listed under item 4 are not yet fulfilled.
3. What is already accessible
- Screen reader output: the programs use the standard Windows components and are therefore known to the Windows screen reader. Controls without a visible label – search fields, highlighter colours and the licence status – carry their own name for screen reader output; the licence status is announced together with the licence line.
- Operation without a mouse: menus, lists, tables, input fields and buttons can be operated with Tab, the arrow keys, the space bar and the Enter key. For the two controls that Windows does not report as separate buttons there are keyboard routes: left and right arrow collapse and expand the project of the selected file in the project list, Ctrl + A ticks or unticks all items in the item list – the same as the tick in the column header (LV PRO only).
- Colour contrasts: all four colour schemes – light, dark, negative and sepia – were measured against the requirement of 4.5:1. All text and area pairs tested reach this value; the „negative“ scheme is above 15:1 throughout.
- Information not conveyed by colour alone: the licence status also appears as text (explanatory text and screen reader output); expired licences carry an exclamation mark.
- Magnification: the long text can be enlarged in steps from 100 to 300 percent. The rest of the interface follows the Windows scaling; the windows can be resized freely and the panes can be moved using dividers.
- No time limits, no flashing: there are no entries under time pressure and no flashing or moving content.
- Understandable error messages: errors are reported in plain language. Technical details are only written to a log file in the user profile.
4. Non-accessible content
| Limitation | Reason and planned remedy |
|---|---|
| Highlighters in the long text (LV PRO only) require a section of text to be selected with the mouse. | For long texts in GAEB XML format an embedded display component is used in which selection by keyboard is not consistently possible. Planned: replacement of the display component and keyboard selection. The other functions are not affected by this. |
| The arrow for expanding and collapsing a project and the tick in the column header of the item list are not reported to the screen reader as separate controls. | Windows groups these parts together with their heading or column respectively. Both functions can be reached using the keyboard routes mentioned above. Planned: separate controls that the screen reader also announces individually. |
| No assessment by an independent body. | The information is based on a self-assessment including measurement of the colour contrasts and a review of the controls. An external assessment has not yet taken place. |
| No testing with all assistive technologies. | Testing was carried out with the tools built into Windows. Other assistive technologies, such as braille displays or voice input, were not tested systematically. |
| Printed and exported documents. | The PDF export produces searchable text with a table structure, but not yet a tagged structure according to PDF/UA. Planned for a later version. |
5. Preparation of this statement
This statement was prepared on 23 September 2026. It is based on a self-assessment of the programs LV Viewer and LV PRO, including a computational check of the colour contrasts of all colour schemes and a review of the controls for screen reader names and keyboard operability.
